The definition of Ecotourism is a responsible travel to conserved natural and cultural areas, sustains the well-being of the local people, and interprets and shares knowledge between hosts and visitors. Ecotourism is about uniting conservation, communities and sustainable travel. This means that everyone whom involves with ecotourism should implement the principles of ecotourism, which are

  • Minimize physical, social, behavioral and psychological impacts
  • Build an awareness and respect to environment and culture
  • Provide positive experiences for both visitors and hosts
  • Provide financial benefits for conservation
  • Create financial benefits for both local people and industry
  • Aware of the rights and beliefs of the indigenous people in the community and collaborate with them to create empowerment

In terms of conservation, ecotourism is a long-term solution which provides economic incentives for conserving and enhancing biodiversity and protects the natural and cultural heritage of the planet. Ecotourism also increases capacity building to local, builds career opportunities, empowers local communities to fight against poverty, and moves towards sustainability development.
